Sebastián Durón (1660-1716) CORONIS |
||||||
With the edition of Coronis we begin the "Música Escénica Española" Collection, dedicated to the best scenic music written in Spain during 17 th and 18 th centuries. The reason of this choice is that it supposes a double discovery. Until now Coronis had been considered an anonymous zarzuela. Nevertheless, the people in charge of the transcription, Raúl Angulo Díaz and Antoni Pons Seguí, prove that in fact it is an opera, and its author is the famous Sebastián Durón (1660-1716), organist and chapel master of the Real Chapel of Madrid. Coronis is an authentic masterpiece that will surprise everyone interested in it.
